how did this begin?

many have asked…how did you get into this lifestyle?

two reasons: doctors weren’t doing shit & our family wanted to be healthier.

in 2021, we deep dived into everything containing unnecessary ingredients. for starters, i already loved to create and make things from scratch so that wasn’t anything new. the aspect of new came when i started making homemade vanilla wafers, thin mints, starting our own sourdough starter and such. now, i want to preface this with, we still eat random fast food and enjoy life. we call it balance.

making everything from home isn’t really too hard, it can be time consuming for sure, but the outcome is always worth it. our top priorities for this lifestyle were: nourishing our bodies with things that fuel us, eating things that benefit our mind, providing healthy habits for our children and becoming self sufficient and sustainable. having to depend on stores is the farthest thing from what we wanted to do.

for the animal aspect, that was actually part of the plan all along. it started with the ducks though. the ducks were our fast paced introduction. fun fact: i have truly been afraid of ducks since i was little because i used to be chased by them at ponds. the ducks were my husbands choice. then they became my pride and joy. he was over them at about five months, but this man loves them to pieces.

we didn’t do this all at once, it was steps.

first step: prioritize whole foods and making most things at home (including herbal remedies to replace common medicines) we cut out processed items all at once, but have tried various low toxic swaps and do have plenty of recommendations (because let’s be honest, sometimes we just need something easy to grab that we don’t have to cut up or peel)

second step: start swapping products (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, lotion, toothpaste, etc)

third step: getting organic seeds to have and planning our goals

fourth step: adding dual purpose ducks (that will no longer be used for meat until they are of old age, if that, or they will pass peacefully and loved)

fifth step: adding chickens for meat

you get the idea.

choosing this lifestyle was honestly extremely easy, as having a farm/ranch was always our end goal. we just expanded it a little. we’ve learned things we would do and not do again (example: cornish cross chickens are a no go). i will always encourage others to learn how to do things themselves so they don’t have to rely on others or a store for anything. it just takes patience and dedication. from the kitchen of a’s purpose is to help educate those on any step of their journey and be a guiding/helping hand. i created this as a safe space for others and i will protect that will all i have.

so, do not ever be afraid to shoot us an email or dm with questions about anything. i will always answer to the best of my knowledge or send you to resources that will help even further than i can. we aren’t experts and are always expanding out knowledge. where ever you are in this journey, we are with you. be proud of yourself. it’s hard work and can be overwhelming, that’s why you’re a part of this tribe. we’re with you.
